Everything you need to plan your visit to the 2nd Annual Crystal Lake Disability Pride Event on July 25, 2026
Campus & Building Navigation
The event takes place at McHenry County College (MCC), located at 8900 US Route 14 (Northwest Highway), Crystal Lake, IL 60012. All event activities are inside Building B, which houses the Luecht Auditorium, Cafeteria, and Commons.
Arriving by Car from Route 14
- From Route 14 (Northwest Highway), look for the main McHenry County College entrance. The campus entrance road is clearly marked with MCC signage.
- Turn into the campus from Route 14. You will be on the main campus drive.
- Follow signs toward Building B and Visitor/Event Parking.
- Building B is one of the larger buildings on campus, located near the center of the main parking areas.
Arriving by Public Transportation
- Pace Bus: Pace suburban bus routes serve the McHenry County College campus. Check the Pace Bus website (opens in a new tab) for current routes and schedules.
- The bus stop is located near the main campus entrance, with a paved path leading to Building B.
Drop-Off Area
- A designated passenger drop-off and pick-up zone is available near the main entrance to Building B.
- This area is on a flat, paved surface with a curb cut leading directly to the building entrance.
Parking Instructions
McHenry County College offers free parking for all event attendees. No parking pass or permit is required.
ADA-Accessible Parking
- Designated ADA-accessible parking stalls are located in the lot directly adjacent to Building B.
- These spaces are the closest stalls to the Building B entrances, clearly marked with International Symbol of Accessibility signage and blue-painted pavement markings.
- Access aisles between accessible stalls are wide enough for wheelchair ramp deployment from vans.
- The path from ADA parking to the Building B entrance is flat, paved, and free of steps.
General Parking
- Ample general parking is available in the lots surrounding Building B.
- All parking lot surfaces are paved. Curb cuts are available at crosswalks between the lots and building entrances.
Step-by-Step Text Directions (Word Guide)
The following text directions describe the path from the parking lot to each event space inside Building B. These directions are provided as an alternative to visual maps for attendees who are blind, have low vision, or prefer written wayfinding.
From ADA Parking to Building B Entrance
- Exit your vehicle. The ADA parking stalls are in the lot directly in front of (south of) Building B.
- Face the building. You will see the main entrance doors ahead of you, approximately 50 to 100 feet from the parking stalls.
- Walk straight ahead (north) on the flat, paved sidewalk toward the building. There are no steps or elevation changes.
- You will reach a set of double glass doors with automatic door openers (push-button activated) on both sides.
- Press the automatic door button or pull the door handle to enter Building B.
From Building B Entrance to Luecht Auditorium
- After entering through the main doors, you are in the Building B lobby.
- Event volunteers and directional signage will be posted at the entrance to guide you.
- From the lobby, proceed straight ahead and follow signs for Luecht Auditorium.
- The auditorium entrance is on the ground floor — no stairs or elevator required.
- Accessible seating is available inside the auditorium, with designated wheelchair spaces and companion seats.
From Building B Entrance to Cafeteria
- From the Building B lobby, follow signs for the Cafeteria.
- The Cafeteria is located on the ground floor of Building B.
- The path to the Cafeteria is along a wide, flat hallway with no steps.
- The Cafeteria has wide doorways that accommodate wheelchairs and mobility devices.
From Building B Entrance to the Commons
- From the Building B lobby, follow signs for the Commons.
- The Commons is located on the ground floor, near the Cafeteria.
- The path is flat and step-free throughout.
- This is where the vendor booths and community resource tables are set up.
- Aisles between vendor tables are maintained at a minimum of 36 inches wide for wheelchair and mobility device access.
Sensory & Accessibility Accommodations
Quiet / Sensory Decompression Zones
- Designated quiet rooms will be available inside Building B for attendees who need a break from noise, crowds, or sensory stimulation.
- These spaces will be clearly marked with signage and listed on printed event guides.
- Quiet zones will have dimmed lighting, minimal noise, and comfortable seating.
- Noise-reducing ear protection will be available to borrow at the event registration table.
ASL Interpreters
- American Sign Language (ASL) interpreters will be present at the Luecht Auditorium for all main stage presentations and speakers.
- Interpreters will be positioned in a well-lit area to the side of the stage, visible from designated Deaf and hard-of-hearing seating sections.
- If you need ASL interpretation at a specific vendor booth or elsewhere at the event, please ask an event volunteer and we will coordinate support.
- ASL Interpreter availability dependent upon Sponsorship!
Service Animals
- Service animals are welcome in all event spaces, including the auditorium, cafeteria, commons, and quiet zones.
- Water bowls for service animals will be available near the event registration area and the quiet zones.
- Please keep service animals under your control at all times. Event staff are trained in service animal etiquette and will not interfere with working animals.
Additional Accommodations
- Accessible restrooms are located on the ground floor of Building B, near both the Cafeteria and the Commons.
- Large-print event programs will be available at the registration table.
- Event volunteers will be stationed throughout Building B to provide wayfinding assistance.
